Chinese Character Pendants
From Robert Brandt: The best thing in life is to love what you do…and I do. I am a potter. I see through each piece I make from the time of its inception until its sale. I work and create in my home studio. I throw clay on a potter’s wheel, do slab work and use a clay extruder to develop my pieces.
I began studying ceramics in high school in 1967. For the next 12 years I was able to support myself as a potter, teaching and creating. Then, after a slight 17 year detour, during which time I owned restaurants, I set up my studio and began potting again in July 2000. Watching my work improve over the ensuing years has given me some of the greatest satisfactions in my life. The best start to a workday is to enter the studio with a new idea, intent on making something you’ve never made before. The best end to that workday is to look with pride at that new item you were able to create. I believe that daily creation is a learning process that leads to better designs and better technical solutions. I put integrity into all of my work. To constantly strive to improve yourself and your work is an honorable pursuit.
